Use and care

Indoors — Prolonged sun and frost change the material. This piece is made for indoors; an outdoor version can be produced in a different polymer, which is a design conversation rather than a substitution.
Water and cut flowers — A printed wall is not sealed and is not watertight. Dried and artificial stems go straight in; cut flowers go into a slim glass or plastic insert dropped inside, never into the piece itself.

The roots do the work: they spread wider than the body, so the piece stays put when a hand pulls a pen out of it in a hurry. Above them the wall rises in grain and breaks into a ragged crown, and pencils lean out through the gaps instead of standing to attention. The two hearts are cut into the one flat panel on the object — and a name, a pair of initials or a date can be cut above them. The small is the desk size; the large holds brushes, rolled drawings or a handful of dried stems.
